Understanding your injury or illness is critical. Yep, once you get hurt at work, you are back in school. Our Medical Links section can help you learn more about your condition.
We want to help you get back to work as soon as possible, earning wages, and leading a normal life again. You can help yourself a great deal once you understand exactly what caused your condition, what aggravates it, and how to recover from it.
Knowledge is big part of healing. In our experience, it is unwise to just sit back and let your doctor do all the thinking, planning . . . and understanding.
- It is your body . . .,
- It is your injury . . ., and
- It is your recovery.
Be an active patient. When you are motivated to recover and engaged in your treatment, you heal better and faster.
Before you start wandering around the Web, looking at medical articles and reading journals, get prepared. Start with what you do not know. Talk to your doctor and write down
- Your exact diagnosis
- The scientific name of the bone, tendon, nerve, muscle, etc. involved
- The names of all the drugs your doctor prescribes, and
- The names of all tests, surgical procedures and other form of treatment your doctor performed or proposes to perform.
Once you have this information, you are ready to use our Medical Links. Go slow, read carefully, and take notes. Think about what you learn. Talk to your doctor.
